FMG Conveyor Drive, Anderson Point (Pt Hedland)

Take Conveyor CV911 which feeds the ship loader at Anderson Point (Pt Hedland) from the stockpile yard. The original gearbox had failed several times and was considered unreliable.

We assessed the application for handling 6 pole 630kW motor (one of four drives) used to obtain the required working capacity of 12,000 T.P.H. on a 24 hour duty cycle. The conveyor start up is controlled via VSD.

The solution, a replacement direct ‘drop in’ Donly B2SE50 Bevel Helical gearbox was offered, an affordable, simple and timely resolution to the issue. The Donly box operates full working load with ambient air of 35 ~ 42C. The required cooling is achieved with the aid of high speed (input) shaft fan and cowling.

Comments from FMG monthly V.A. report for the CV911 Donly Gearbox, “The Donly gearbox V.A. is perfectly normal, with nothing out of ordinary noted”
