Lower bend pulley pedestal and pulley upgrade

Inline Engineering Services were engaged to upgrade the high tension lower bend pulley on our clients shiploader feed conveyor. During an engineering static and dynamic load calculation check on regularly failing pulleys, it was discovered that a percentage of the high tension bend and head pulleys were under designed for their application.

So a systematic upgrade schedule was developed to upgrade these pullies in order of criticality. We manufactured low profile replacement bolt in pedestals to facilitate a larger pulley to be installed while still maintaining the same vertical and horizontal shaft centreline as to not affect the pullies further up the belt line.

The lower bend pulley was removed and the existing structure was cut back and levelled square, we then drilled in the bolting patter in to structure and installed the pedestals. The underside clearance to the existing structure was an issue so the pedestals were manufactured with removable jacking plates, so after the alignment was completed, they could be removed and allow the machine to long travel with clashing with any existing structure.
